Mount Reyes State Park Landslide Traps Hiker
A hiker was trapped by landslides in Mount Reyes State Park yesterday. The hiker whose name is not shared here for anonymity was caught out by landslides caused by the heavy rain moving through the region.
Though the hiker was uninjured, Warden Lila Russo rode into the park mounted on Officer Ginger to aid the hiker in escaping the landslides. Though the mission was initially thwarted by material that had slid down onto the road entering the State Park, Warden Russo was able to make contact with the hiker by traveling through unmarked trails.
The incident prompted the closure of Mount Reyes State Park until road access can be restored, and the park is assessed as safe by Rangers and the Forest Service.
